As the evenings start to get cooler I can feel Fall (my favourite season) is right around the corner. Although I am excited at the prospect of snuggly sweaters – I am not quite ready to give up the summer just yet! We still have a few warm weekends ahead of us and I plan to take full advantage in celebrating the last bit of summer joys starting with a lovely sangria drink this weekend – ahhhhh it already feels relaxing!
My favourite summer tradition is having friends over for a relaxing get together while enjoying some beautiful patio weather (since it doesn’t last that long here in Canada). Having people over gives me the excuse to be a little creative in my meal planning and decor setup. This fun setup is the perfect reason to invite some friends over and enjoy a nice relaxing cocktail while enjoying the last bit of sunshine!
Bright neon pink and snazzy orange colours scream summer to me so when I saw these wonderful plastic patio plates at Homesense I knew I had to work them into my summer tablescapes somehow. The colours are just so fun and the plastic is convenient for outside use! Once I purchased the plates everything else seems to come together with the amazing table runner and funky glasses.
To help tie in the theme I customized the table napkins by adding in little tassels on the end that encompassed the pink colours in the table runner and plates. Name cards were quite simple – delicious orange clementines that were perfectly on colour theme and a delicious treat afterwards! The names for each guest were printed on the computer and stuck onto a toothpick for a quick easy display.
These flowers were the perfect pop of orange! I went into the store with a whole other vision of what I was looking for but ended up changing my mind as I was standing in the aisle – love when things works out for the better!
JMS TIP: Always leave room for flexibility when planning events. You can try to plan every detail from the dessert to the flowers but you never know when a last minute change may work for the better!
Usually I love to have a funky different cocktail to serve while entertaining but other times it is easier to keep it super simple. I paired my favourite delicious blood orange soda (Compliments brand from Sobeys) for the perfect pop of pink to match the table decor. Delicious and beautiful – a win win for me!
This whole tablescape was quick and easy to put together (my fav!) but truly displays the fun and energy the summer brings. As I mentioned the summer does not last long in Canada therefore its always fun to get together outside for as many occasions as possible. I hope you get out and enjoy the last bit of the summer as well!
